Bonsai Trees – An Interactive Experience
October 8, 2007
Caring for a bonsai tree can and should be a life long experience. People that partake in such care, who take it seriously, can experience a meditative state. The action of pruning ones bonsai can be a therapeutic experience. Over years the caretaker of a bonsai tree can watch it transform along with themselves.
Bonsai trees are essentially a miniature version of whatever tree they are. However they can become very detailed in how they express the idea of what the perfect nature scene is. Some bonsai create emotive experiences for viewers and their caretakers. This is achieved through years of shaping and manipulating the tree and its surroundings.
To view a bonsai tree is to have a cold media experience. They illicit deep thought. It is also a hypermedial experience, because the viewer is very aware of the tree itself (the medium).
